Web design for contractors and home-service businesses

Show people what you do, where you work and how to request an estimate. Picshaw designs websites around the practical questions a homeowner asks before getting in touch.

Make the first screen earn its place

Our starting point is straightforward: name the trade, explain the service area and make the next step obvious. A homeowner with a leaking pipe should not have to interpret a vague slogan before finding out whether you can help.

For a plumbing business, an illustrative first screen might identify the plumbing services offered, give the actual coverage area and provide a tap-to-call option plus an estimate request. Emergency availability should appear only when the business genuinely provides it. This is a design example, not a measured client outcome.

Ask for enough information—not everything

A useful enquiry form can ask for contact details, the type of job and the location information needed to decide whether it is in scope. Photos or scheduling integrations may help some businesses, but those features should be scoped rather than promised by default.

Before launch, test where messages arrive, how errors are explained and what the customer sees after submission. Do not display a successful confirmation when no enquiry has been delivered.

  • Clear service navigation on a small screen.
  • A working phone link using the business's real number.
  • An estimate request with explicit required fields.
  • Honest availability and response expectations.

Use proof you can stand behind

Use your actual project photographs with permission, describe the work accurately and include credentials only when they are current and applicable. Testimonials should be genuine and authorised.

Picshaw's homepage includes labelled design concepts to demonstrate design direction. They are not customer case studies or evidence of increased bookings. A project case study should be added only when the client, work and any reported outcomes are verified.

Choose the scope around the business

The $1,000 Website Refresh may suit an established site whose existing content needs a stronger presentation and enquiry path. A Growth Site from $2,500 is the published option for a 5–10 page website with a broader service structure.

Roofers, landscapers, plumbers and other trades have different information needs. We review the existing website and agree which pages and functionality are needed; there is no assumption that every trade needs the same template.

Questions before you start

Can I keep my current domain?

Often yes. We review the existing domain, hosting and email arrangements before agreeing a migration so the website change does not assume those services can be moved together.

Can you add online booking or job-management software?

We can assess the integration you need. Compatibility, subscription costs and implementation effort must be confirmed in the scope; they are not automatically included in the refresh.

What should I send for a review?

Your current website address, your main services and the areas you actually cover. Explain whether your priority is calls, estimate requests or a different action.
